PeraMakan Review

13th March 2014

In appreciation to the Malaysia Getaway, Cheney decided to give us a treat!
So I've chosen PerMakan at Santa Gran Hotel, Katong.
Since my family always walked pass but didn't had the chance to eat.

Free refill of rice

Authentic Nyonya Fish Head Curry

Ngoh Hiang
*Sadly, they dont serve with my favourite honey sauce

Chap Chye, Babi Pongteh, Itek Sio
In translation [Vegetable Stew, Stewed Pork, Braised Duck]

Otak-Otak
[Mackeral Otah]

Pros:
1) Free refill of rice
2) Very friendly staffs/manager
3) Generous amount of seafood in the otah
4) Same Heavenly Father

Cons:
1) The fish curry is supposedly sweet but the taste is bland
2) Chap Chye missing out on the most impt-shrimps
3) Babi Pongteh and Itek Sio didnt taste the way it shld be.

Rating:

3/5 stars. Dont think I'll be going back again.

Reasons:
I've always love the rich taste of Nyonya food since I am partly from the Peranakan Origin and grew up eating Ivin's Ivin's Peranakan food (though we stopped ever since they added MSG cus my mum is allergic to). Comparatively, the food tasted really bland to me so the pricy bill didnt justify the food though Nyona food has always been small portions. It was that bad that my mum had to cook Assam Pongteh the next day cus she wasnt satisfied.

Ion Swensen's Ice Cream Buffet Review

22nd March 2014

Ever since Cheney started working, our "official-outing" is strictly on Saturdays ;(
Weekdays are a repetitive work-dinner-sleep routine and Sundays are devoted to church-sleep-work.

Cheney, Glenn and I went to Scape to shop after lunch.
My beautiful buy, so in love with all the details of it.
[Royal, Floral, Gold, Pink, Purple, Home]
for only $5!

And the small decorative pieces ranging from $0.50 to $2.20
Unfortunately my phone spoilt so waiting to get a new phone to paste on.

My sister told us about the new ice cream buffet Ion's Swensens was having,
so we went to take a look and thought it was a reasonable price to try.
$20.90++ for Weekend, $19.90++ for Weekday for Adults

The range of Swensen's Ice cream flavors

Their Gelato flavours

WHITE CHOCOLATE FONDUE!!

Variety of cakes.

Milk Chocolate Fondue

"Side snacks"

Generous range of toppings

First plate, Cakes!
[Green Banana, Oreo Cheesecake, Marble Swirl Cheesecake, Strawberry Cake, Chocolate Banana Cake]
*I felt the cakes were abit too sugary sweet.

Second Plate, white and milk chocolate fondue coated strawberries.
*Can be seen that the white chocolate was too watery to be thickened with the strawberries.

Plus point, their strawberries are huge!

Ice cream creation counter

Excited me didnt read the instructions and took a whole lot of my favourite toppings!

Yummy Waffle

Strawberry and Hazelnut Gelato with whipped cream and kit kat

Pros:
1) Wide range of ice cream flavours
2) Generous variety of toppings
3) White chocolate fondue
4) Nice range of cakes
5) Huge strawberries
6) Tasty waffles
7) Addictive chewy chocolate chip cookies
8) Ice cream creation counter
10) Reasonable price

Cons:
1) Ice cream has no quality taste but sweet
2) Some toppings have turned soft
3) White chocolate fondue is too watery
4) Cakes are sugary sweet

Rate:
3/5 stars, don't think I'll be back.

Reason:
Since its an ice cream buffet, I would expect the ice cream to be of good quality but I could only taste the sweetness with no quality. Unfortunately even their gelatos. [Maybe cus I had too much New Zealand ice cream at my workplace that I can taste the difference. #truestory #notboasting]
I would prefer quality over quantity when it comes to being satisfied. But its worth the try for the price :)

Swiss Garden Resort, Kuantan Weekend Trip

Continuation of Day 2 from Part 1 of our weekend trip at Bukit Tinggi.

Day 2, Sunday

From Bukit Tinggi, we drove 3.5hrs west to Kuantan.
 Our rides for the roadtrip.

Tried a new stay at Swiss Garden Resort.
But would recommend Cherating Resort instead where all the water activites and turtle were.

Had dinner at Pak Su for seafood recommended by the resort's staff,
a 5 min drive from our stay.

Then we had durians for dessert,
we bought them back cus we didnt dare park our car by the road side.

Sisterly love!

Rest and relax before we end our day!

Day 3, Monday

Breakfast by the pool.

Then we head to the beach for the final play.
Cheney and I found hundreds of hermit crabs on shore and decided to bring some home.
However after I brought home the next day, my silly idea, wanted to give them the "beach feel" by putting them out in the sun. The next moment when I checked, the sea water had dried up and they started making holes to hide. So I made sea water from the sea salt I have but it wasnt suitable, some died :(

Lunch before we head back to JB area which took us 3.5 hrs of car ride.

Dinner near Sutera area where the BEST sticky chewy honey char siew is!

My older brother was craving for KFC
so we walked around Sutera mall before having our last meal and left for Singapore Customs.
Kampong chicken just taste yummier!
